Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any browser that supports tables and forms (and Java for the File Manager module), you can setup user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and so on.
Webmin consists of a simple web server, and a number of CGI programs which directly update system files like /etc/inetd.conf and /etc/passwd. The web server and all CGI programs are written in Perl version 5, and use no non-standard Perl modules.

- Added support for zone signing in the BIND module using the DNSSEC-Tools suite, thanks to a patch from Suresh Krishnaswamy.
- Allowed the MTU to be set at boot time on Debian Linux, and fixed bugs editing VLANs, thanks to a patch to the Network Configuration module from Caspar Smit.
- In the Disk and Network Filesystems module, updated the UI for Linux and most other operating systems to use Webmin's new UI functions.
- Added an option to have the time synced when Webmin starts at system boot.
- An SSL CSR can now be generated in the Webmin Configuration module, and the Webmin cert copied to Usermin.
- Added a Unix user password restriction for the minimum number of days before a password can be changed, and a human-readable description for the valid password regular expression

A Webmin package for Gentoo is now part of their tree, and can be installed with the command :
emerge webmin

The PGP key that the RPM packages for versions 1.040 and above were signed with is also available, so that you can verify their integrity. Just add it to your GnuPG or PGP keyring and run the command rpm --checksig webmin-1.590-1.noarch.rpm. If you are using RPM version 4 or above, you will need to import the key into RPM's key database with the command rpm --import jcameron-key.asc. Otherwise, you can run gpg --import jcameron-key.asc as root.
The PGP signature for the latest tar/gzip version of Webmin is also available so that you can verify the tar.gz file with the command gpg --verify webmin-1.590.tar.gz-sig.asc webmin-1.590.tar.gz.
For Debian packages, you can also get the PGP signature for the latest version, so that you can verify the package with the command gpg --verify webmin_1.590_all.deb-sig.asc webmin_1.590_all.deb.
Minimal Package
The minimal version of Webmin contains only the core API and programs, and a few modules required for its basic operation. Most modules and all themes have been left out, but can be easily added later. It can be useful if you only need some of the programs functionality, and don't want to download the entire multi-megabyte package. The 1.590 minimal tar.gz distribution can be downloaded from webmin-1.590-minimal.tar.gz
